02  CLIENT SUCCESS STORY

Closing a Cloud Security Gap for an E-commerce Leader

A leading e-commerce company exposed customer data through one misconfigured cloud storage bucket. Anyone with the right URL could download names, addresses, credit card numbers and purchase histories.

What went wrong: Human error during a cloud migration left the bucket publicly accessible. Weak monitoring meant nobody noticed for a long time, and the security team lacked the training to spot the risk.

The impact: The company faced notification, credit-monitoring and legal costs, lost customer trust, and risked regulatory fines.

How Aress helped: Working with the client's cloud team, Aress recommended:

  • Regular security assessments
  • Least-privilege access controls
  • Continuous monitoring and logging
  • Ongoing staff training
  • A clear incident response plan

The takeaway: Cloud security has to be proactive. The right controls protect customers' data and the trust that comes with it.
