Why is the Power Platform so important?
The ‘Power Platform’ is a term for following Microsoft products: Power BI, PowerApps, Power Automate (previously known as Flow) and Power Virtual Agents. These tools as a suite can help to automate and analyse data and can be used with Office 365 and Dynamics 365 along with other third-party apps and other Microsoft services.
- Power BI is used for creating different kinds of data visualisation charts.
- Power Apps is a software for writing low-code custom business applications
- Power Automate is used for implementing business workflow products. Power Automate Desktop is an RPA software for automating graphical user interfaces
- Power Virtual Agents is a software for writing chatbots
“Power Platform is not a single product like Microsoft SharePoint, or Dynamics, but a suite of integrated tools that can be connected with other Microsoft applications.”
Microsoft’s objective with the Power Platform is that it’s accessible to all members of an organisation via an app for users, a workflow, or a performance dashboard.
Now-a-days, the businesses are heavily dependent on data and the quantum of data is increasing by the day. Unless the businesses make use of this data to gain insights and generate meaningful information to make fruitful decisions, this data will be useless. It will be time-consuming, expensive and would need usage of valuable resources internally or externally to do the data analysis, create custom apps or invest in automating the workflows. Using all the MS products mentioned above, the Power Platform suite does all of this at lower development costs and that is why businesses are investing in it.
“If an organisation already has MS Office 365 Enterprise E5 licensing, they can make use of PowerApps, Power BI, and Microsoft Automate without having to spend anything.”
Many huge global corporations like Coca Cola, Pepsi, Virgin, and BP are already using it. Of course, that does not mean that it is out of reach for small and medium enterprise organizations. Please review Microsoft Power Platform Stories to understand how the businesses have adopted this low-code platform along with Microsoft 365, Azure, and Dynamics 365 to digitally transform their business. There are over 350,000 organizations using Microsoft Power Automate (RPA) each month to automate their processes.
